The winners in the various categories.......
Tosai
Nisai
Oya
I was not at the competition and I am blogging...collating datas from various websites. As I gleaned through the results, I was looking for Master Kazunari Saito....looking for his manificent Oyas that were so captivating last year...especially the white Oya which was competing magnificiently the last few years. Sadly those fishes retired, but Master Kazunari Saito won handsomely with some new fishes.
Also of great interest is Master Kashino San winning the Oya East Ozeki and Oya 5th placing. It is really amazing to see Master Kashino winning the Oya East Ozeki again. From my archive, I had him winning East Ozeki Oya for the first time in 1996 and he had many winners over the years till present, but to win the top Oya accolade again after so many years just show Master Kashino exquisite skills and endurance.

The Oya West Ozeki was also last year Oya West Ozeki winner. Another name that I was looking out for was Master Masaru Matsuda. I blogged about Japan earthquake and tsunami in here....

and Master Masaru Matsuda is from Miyagi....very close to the epicenter of the earthquake. Master Masaru Matsuda did participate in this year competition and his fishes were placed further down the line. There were some other notable breeders like Master Yoshito Yamada, Master Suzuki Kazuo, Master Kageyama Shigeru etc etc who attended the AJRS and just too many names to name. Hobbyists can refer to the Nichiran website that contain all the info about the just concluded AJRS 2011.....
